Our History

Our company was established on the vision of saving lives without the limitation of geography. As Zimbabwe began to grow as an independent country, the healthcare system lagged behind. This was made worse with the economic downturn which meant that fewer people had access to life saving diagnosis and treatment. Our founders, Boniface & Gertrude Mudenge, strived to overcome this challenge and in 1993, started the Molecular Biology Research Institute. Their primary objective was to help diagnose and manage the growing HIV infections through quantitative PCR and flow cytometry lymphocyte substrate analysis . Together they pioneered measuring patients viral load and CD4 count, allowing patients to manage their condition. The laboratory grew and began offering a wide variety of world class diagnostic techniques to help save the lives of many. As cancer cases became more prevalent in our country, our founders began diagnosing leukemias using a technique called Flow Cytometry and the lab was then renamed to Flow Cytometry Centre.

Our Mission

Inspiring hope, contributing to health and wellbeing by providing best patient care through advanced, modern and best diagnostic practice

Corporate Social Responsibility.

Leukemia is the most common blood cancer in children. Cancer is diagnosed each year in about 175,000 children aged 14 and below worldwide with varying survival rates. The causes of childhood cancer are not fully understood with genetic mutations being the most probable cause. These mutations occur by chance and are not affected by environment or lifestyle. At Flow Cytometry Centre, we offer leukaemia immunophenotyping for free to children suffering from leukaemia. We do this in collaboration with KidzCan Zimbabwe, Parirenyatwa Hospital Pediatric Oncology and St Judes Children’s Hospital USA
